It's a Marshmallow World in the Winter ft. Lady Skyline

If you asked me what my favourite thing about winter is, I would say “when it’s over”. I’m sure that statement is the same for a lot of you. But, in the light of things, winter is a very magical season! It's a season to curl up on the couch with the fireplace on and watch a good holiday movie. It's a season to drink your favourite warm and cozy drink at your favourite coffee shop (Starbucks). Most importantly it's a season for good fashion.

Winter fashion this season is all about faux fur, sequins, booties and trench coats. My favourite winter trend right now (that actually carried over from fall) is ankle boots. They go well with any outfit and can turn your casual daytime wear into a trendy evening look, and not to mention can keep you warm on those cold, wet winter days.

As you may have noted from the title, this post includes the lovely Lady Skyline, also known as Komal Randhawa. She is one of my dearest friends and I had so much fun shooting with her! She also has quite the sense of style. Usually I'm the one who my friends come to for fashion advice so when its my turn, I go to her. I would love it if everyone could go check out her blog: www.ladyskyline.blogspot.ca We will definitely be collaborating again in the future!

Nailed It!

It has been quite some time since I've made a post.... almost 5 months. oops!! I'm going to make more of an effort to blog more now that I have free time. Just a little update of what I've been up to; I recently graduated from cosmetology school!! (hence the freed up time) Yay! So now I'm a hairstylist in the real world and I couldn't be happier. Not many people get to do what they love as their career. I'm one of those lucky people and I feel very blessed. I work at a great salon with great people and the job is just great.

Now, to the real reason why I'm making this post: NAILS! As I'm sure most have you have seen, nail art has been trending all around the world. It started with the accent nail on your ring finger, moved to 2 accent nails, every other nail a different colour WITH an accent nail, 3-D gems on your nails and... well... you get the point. There are endless opportunities when it comes to your nails and personally I feel that if your nails aren't polished your outfit isn't complete.

I wanted to share some nail inspirations with you to give you some ideas when you go into the nail salon to get a manicure. I go to a place called "Modern Touch Nails" it's located in the south side of Edmonton and they are such a phenomenal nail salon. I show them a picture of what I want my nails to look like and they will copy the image exactly. I can not rave enough about this place you absolutely must go there!

Here are some of my current favourites! (P.S I found all of these pictures on either Pinterest or Instagram)

I'm going to be doing a blog collab soon with one of my favourite bloggers. The post will be up within the next couple of weeks so stay tuned! :)

Garbage Bag Dresses

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share this fun little project I was apart of. I was able to work with a photography group called "The Edmonton Shutter Bugs". They get together, create a concept and make it come alive. The idea that we came up with were dresses made out of garbage bags. Yup you read that correctly, garbage bags. We took garbage bags and cut, tied and stapled them together to create dresses. We shot against a graffiti wall in the city that was filled with beautiful art. It was so much fun being apart of this creative shoot. Everyone was so wonderful to work with!

The 10 photographers that captured our shots were:
Venita Rajput - Pics by Venita
Kaye Ly - Moonsky Photography
Steven Li
Rick Watts
Shawn Langevin
Michael Health
Mike S - Big Pix Photography
Laurice Block - Laurice block photography
Cuong Ly
Sharon Block

The models that were in the photoshoot were:
Myself
Radhika Kalra
Saieesha Prasad
Alyna Juma

The hair and makeup for this shoot was done by me (except for Radhika). The makeup was kept pretty smokey with a bold red lip. For the hair, I used a 2" flat iron to keep the curls loose and flowy.
